Country Statistics 2014
Government produces and submits a nationally owned, self written, well co-ordinated and well consulted report. This report that was written by the NWM drew on data and analysis from the 19 ministry report writing committee (established for the purpose), UN and CSOs. It benefited from a large and transparent NGO consultation, and can easily be cited as a good practice. UN Women provided technical assistance by briefing the government (over 40 participants from different ministries) on the CEDAW review process with good practices from other countries; a workshop on CEDAW principles and report writing and a workshop on indicators.
CSOs better understand CEDAW Principles and standards and effective participation in the CEDAW review Process, including how to produce a good shadow report. On demand from NGOs, UN Women organized a capacity building workshop in Dec 2014 on the above themes which has resulted in NGOs trying to co-ordinate how they will write their shadow report.
NGOs obtain a better and more systematic understanding of research design, data collection, analysis, report writing which will also benefit data collection for the CEDAW report. The happened through a capacity building workshop on research methodology in March 2015.
